Sherri Andrews is a self-taught artist who paints in alcohol inks and watercolor. She discovered her love of painting in a vacation watercolor class at Enchantment Resort that evoked childhood memories of drawing with her mother. Sherri loves the unpredictability and boldness of color that alcohol inks provide. She uses various mediums to aid in the flow of the paint, layering the paints to create unusual textures. The vivid colors and spontaneity of her paintings convey energy and joy.
Making art is a change of pace from Sherri’s work in the world of finance. A Harvard MBA, she has combined art with her investment management and research practice. While some might assume that these pursuits are entirely different, Sherri has found that art helps spark her creativity and allows her to think “outside the box.” Both fields reward attention to detail and bold, contrarian approaches. Painting not only gives Sherri a creative outlet, but has proven a valuable source of inner peace. She hopes that positive energy from her artwork will prove restorative to viewers as well.
Sherri resides in Plainsboro, New Jersey, with her husband and their 17-year old son, also an artist. Her work has been displayed at various juried venues, including juried D&R Greenway Art Exhibit “Feather and Flight”, Off the Wall Exhibit in West Windsor, and Wondrous on Witherspoon Gallery. Sherri has also participated in various juried art fairs, including Cranberry Festival in Bordentown, and two hosted by Arts Council of Princeton – Communiversity and Sauce for the Goose.
A portion of the proceeds from her work will be donated to West Windsor-Plainsboro Send Hunger Packing, a charity in association with Mercer Street Friends, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. Send Hunger Packing provides nutritious weekend meals for school children. By supporting Sherri’s art, you can help to meet needs of hungry children in our community.
